Entrance examination in Finland (changed to online)

The national entrance examination of Bachelor’s Degree Programmes in Business has been changed from the face-to-face examination to an online examination due to the Corona pandemic. The examination will now be fully online. Please note that the original times have changed. Please mark the schedule in your calendar now. There is no pre-reading material for the examination, all material will be given during the examination.

The national online entrance examination will now be arranged online in two phases: 

  • Written Part will be online on Friday 9 April 2021 at 12:00 – 14:00 Finnish time (UTC+3) 
  • Spoken Part will be online between 26 - 29 April 2021

1) Written Part

  • a written online examination with the following sections
    • Multiple choice based on material given during the examination (min 4 points, max 10 points)
    • Logical thinking and mathematics (min 8 points, max 30 points)
    • Essay based on material given during the exam (min 10 points, max 30 points)
  • The written examination will be published online and you will have two hours to fill in your answers on the electronic Webropol form.
  • For the exam, you will need a quiet place with a computer and a good internet connection, some paper sheets and a pencil. You can use a calculator for the mathematics. If your Internet connection is weak or unstable, it is recommended that you write the essay first in Word (or any word processing application available). Then copy and paste the text in the Webropol form.
  • Further Instructions and the Webropol examination link will be sent to you by email on 6 or 7 April.

You must pass each test section with minimum points in order to qualify in the selection process. If you do not pass both the multiple choice and logical thinking & mathematics sections, your essay will not be assessed. Applicants who have passed the Written Part will be invited to the Spoken Part.

2) Spoken Part

  • Invitations with a schedule and instructions will be sent by email on 21 April
  • online group interviews will be between 26 – 29 April (about 45 min - a good video connection required)

The applicants must pass all parts of the examination in order to be selected for admission.

Examination participants from outside of Finland can check the Finnish time, e.g., with the Time and Date website.  

Please note, that the student selection for International Business (full-time studies) is carried out from three admission groups:

  • Certificate selection based on the Finnish Matriculation Examination and international baccalaureate degrees (5 study places)
  • Online entrance examination in February (20 study places)
  • Face-to-face entrance examination in Finland in April (9.4., 26 – 29.4.), changed to online (30 study places)

If you want, you can attend both entrance examinations. If you are accepted via certificate-based selection method or online entrance examination in February to the desired study programme before the exam in April, you are not required to participate in the exam.
