The programme is international and multicultural. Students typically come from all five continents and they are eager to share their experiences and skills with fellow students and teachers and, of course, learn new skills in multicultural teams. The programme has close connections to many international universities. They offer opportunities to our students to go to student exchange and increasingly participate in international research and development projects. It is also possible for the students to apply for Double Degree studies; for example, we have a Double Degree agreement with Hes-so in Switzerland.

Employment opportunities after graduation:

Our graduates typically find their first jobs in different size ICT companies either in Finland or abroad or they may choose the option to become entrepreneurs. As ICT is an evolving and growing field of business, ICT career provides also interesting opportunities for lifelong learning and a change to change the world in numerous ways.

Cooperation with working life and other associates:

Students will learn a lot in real-life projects and also in innovative lab environments. The real-life projects come from our partner companies and our students learn how to work with professionals with challenging targets and goals. Furthermore, our programme encourages individual IT development work extensively.

Profile of the Degree Programme in Business Information Technology (BIT)

Key learning outcomes of the Programme

BIT programme provides student with the theoretical and practical knowledge required to operate in the ICT-field. Programme works in close co-operation with the business life and some of the courses are made by the visiting lecturers. Studies offer general skills needed in expert duties, such as co-operation and communication skills, initiative and ability to work independently. Graduates of BIT programme are currently working in several fields in Finland and abroad.

A BBA from Business Information Technology Programme

  • is capable to work either in ICT user organizations or in ICT services companies as an expert in her/his field
  • manages overall development process of ICT systems and is able to work effectively in his field, in which more accurate on-line information is gathered from various places and equipment
  • can participate in business process development and can support decision makers to make justified decisions regarding packaged application selection, implementation and usage
  • knows a variety of web and mobile development environments and technologies including database tools, both proprietary and open source
  • is able to become a private entrepreneur
  • can operate both in Finnish and English.

In addition to the wide knowledge of programs and business applications, student can choose between two different study paths for specialisation.

Professional growth

Professional growth of a BIT student is encouraged by down-to-earth assignments, close co-operation with the business life and work placement. The base of an IT-professional is built during the first semesters with compulsory courses. During the latter part of the degree, students will deepen their knowledge of their chosen specialisation as well as study courses of their choice.

Annual themes

Personal Development of a BIT student can be divided into 6 categories according to the level of IT knowledge. Studies start with a general introduction to programs and business applications. Programming is also introduced to the students. As the know-how of students gets deeper, more applications and programs are being introduced. 5th semester is dedicated to Work Placement made either in Finland or abroad. After a peek to working life, students are encouraged to choose their free-choice courses and do their specialisation studies.
