Dr. Lili Aunimo is currently working as a Principal Lecturer at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. Her expertise relates to data mining, natural language processing and the development of information systems. In her PhD thesis, Dr. Aunimo developed a novel method based on pattern matching and machine learning techniques to be used in multilingual natural language question answering systems.
Prior to starting as a Principal Lecturer in Haaga-Helia, Dr. Aunimo worked some 10 years in various positions both in software companies and in the academia. She has worked, among others, as a software developer in product development projects in the field of natural language processing systems. In the academia, she has worked as a researcher in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Helsinki.
In her current role as a Principal Lecturer in the Unit of Digital Business, Dr. Aunimo is active both in research and teaching. Her main research interests include the application of machine learning, data mining and natural language processing techniques in the fields of marketing, sales and the innovation of new products. In her teaching activities, Dr. Aunimo focuses on business intelligence, the application of basic data mining methods as well as on the innovation and development of novel digital services. Dr. Aunimo also supervises thesis work in the areas of her expertise.
