International Business studies, Open UAS
Complete International Business higher education studies in open University of Applied Sciences! You can study regardless of your previous educational background or work experience.
The studies follow the Haaga-Helia International Business Degree Programme curriculum. The studies are implemented as evening courses during the academic year 2021-2022.
During the academic year 2021-2022, the studies will include following courses:
- International Business Communication
- Basics of Marketing
- Business Mathematics
- Business ICT Skills
- Basics of Financial Management
- Introduction to International Business
- Basics of Human Resources Management
- Basics of Supply Chain Management
- Languages courses
It is a prerequisite that you have good study and time management skills, and that you have good oral and written English proficiency, see the prerequisites.
The open university studies will be transferred to the degree student's status after receiving it. If you already have gained skills matching the course goals, for example through work experience, you can apply for recognition of prior learning and continue to more advanced courses to speed up your study progress.
These courses are offered in a blended format. Blended studies include both contact and online sessions as well as individual and group assignments. There will be two to three contact teaching evenings (at 17:40-20:30) per week on Pasila campus. Additionally, some of the courses are held fully virtually.
The total price for the academic year in the Open UAS is 300 €, including the tuition fees for both the autumn and spring semesters. Once you have been admitted, you will receive a link through which you can pay the fee for the first semester (150 €). The second tuition fee is to be paid at the end of 2021.
Studying at the Open UAS is free of charge until the end of December 2021 for those who are unemployed or furloughed without salaries at the time of enrollment. The offer also applies to entrepreneurs who have become unemployed due to the coronavirus and have the status of an unemployed job applicant. The entrepreneur must submit a certificate that he/she is a job applicant / receives unemployment benefit to the Study Services. The student is required to attach to the enrolment form his/her lay-off or employment relationship termination certificate. A certificate from your local Employment and Economic Development Office (TE Office) is also accepted. In case you are unemployed, please, check with your local TE Office the regulations related to receiving unemployment benefits during your studies.
An Open UAS student is not entitled to Kela student grants, meals subsidized by Kela, or other social benefits for students.
It is required that the student has access to a laptop during the studies. Read more about device recommendations for students.
We will organize an info session about the studies via Zoom on 10 June 2021 at 17:00-18:00.
In the session, the content of the studies and practical arrangements will be explained, after which the floor is open for questions and discussions with Haaga-Helia representatives. It is recommended that you participate in the session if you are planning to apply.

You can enroll in the studies via a link that is open 31.5.-20.6.2021. Eligible students will be selected in the enrollment order. Please note that the enrollment period may close earlier if the filled study places are full. In case of cancellations, the enrollment will be reopened on 2 August for the available study places.
Please, notice that a visa or residence permit is not granted solely based on these studies, which are not directly leading to a degree.
Those who have been admitted will be notified 22.6.2021 at the latest. A student admitted to the Open UAS group makes the final study right confirmation by paying the Open UAS tuition fee by the due date. The programme will start if a minimum of 20 students have enrolled.
Haaga-Helia Open University of Applied Sciences (UAS) studies are suitable for you, if
- you want to develop your professional competence in the business industry and/or
- your aim is to complete a BBA degree in the International Business
- you want to study in the evening
In order to become a degree student in International Business, you must
- complete at least 55 credit units with a minimum weighted GPA of 3,0
- successfully participate in an interview
Students meeting the above-mentioned criteria during the academic year 2021-2022 are eligible to apply in the spring 2022 through Open Path application without having to participate in the entrance examination.
