Haaga-Helia uses electronic identification in order to verify the identity of our new students. About one week before the first contact days, you will receive instructions on the electronic identification process by e-mail.

Exception: If you have studied at Haaga-Helia during the past few months, you might not receive the automatic e-mail on identification. In that case, you may contact opintopalvelut.aokk@haaga-helia.fi.

Exception: If you do not have a Finnish personal identity code yet, you will receive instructions on how to make the identification not earlier than 20 days before the first contact days.

Username, password and study agreement

Studies will begin in May

Studies will begin on 23–24 May 2024 at 9–16. The contact days will be organized at Pasila campus, Ratapihantie 13, Helsinki. More detailed instructions and the programme for the first contact days will be sent to your e-mail about a week before the first contact days by your tutors.

All the contact days of the English group can be found at: https://www.haaga-helia.fi/en/timetables-0. In addition to the contact days, the studies will include online learning, independent assignments and group assignments.

The study guide of the Vocational Teacher Education is called the Development Programme: https://www.haaga-helia.fi/en/vocational-teachers-development-programme.

NB. Please note that due to the Finnish immigration and visa process your access to the country may be delayed. Nevertheless, we expect you to be present in Finland during the starting contact days in May. If it is evident that your visa process is prolonged and you cannot physically attend the contact days in May 2024, you may start your studies with the next group in May 2025. There is no need to enter the country before that since we cannot offer you any studies except for three courses which can be completed fully online (i.e. you may complete these three courses as distant studies from your home country). Unfortunately our process does not allow you to start the studies whenever you wish.

In case you cannot attend the first contact days, please inform us at opintopalvelut.aokk@haaga-helia.fi. You will be contacted the following spring regarding the launch of the next student group.

Student email and forwarding the messages

A student e-mail account is created automatically for each student, and it will be used for all study-related communication. The e-mail application is Office 365, and the e-mail address format is username@myy.haaga-helia.fi. Log in to your e-mail account at http://mymail.haaga-helia.fi with your username and password. Then choose your language and country settings.

If you prefer to use your personal e-mail address for reading study-related messages, you will need to forward the messages from your student e-mail account.

Instructions on turning on automatic forwarding of emails.

Peppi – student’s desktop

In Peppi you can download your electronic study certificate or transcript of records. You can log in to Peppi with your username at https://mynet.haaga-helia.fi.

Meal subsidy card

As a student of Vocational Teacher Education you are entitled to a meal subsidy card issued by Kela. The card entitles you to student prices in participating restaurants, which are listed on the Kela website: https://www.kela.fi/meal-subsidy-student-restaurants

The meal subsidy card can be received during your first contact days or picked up from the customer service desk at the Pasila campus (2nd floor) when you have started your studies. Please bring your ID with you.

Financial matters

Studies in the International Vocational Teacher Education programme are non-degree studies / continuing education. There are no tuition fees, but costs may occur from e.g. study materials, meals or transportation.

Since the programme does not lead to a degree, students are not entitled to a student card, travel discounts or other benefits.

Financial assistance for adult students is available from e.g. the Employment Fund (Työllisyysrahasto) and the TE Services (TE-Palvelut). Please note that if you are unemployed when you start your studies, you will have to report your studies to the TE Services.
