Haaga-Helia Vocational Special Needs Teacher Education (60 ECTS credits) is a study program intended for teachers working in vocational education and training. It gives qualification for special needs teacher positions.

The aim of the program is to support the students’ growth into special needs teachers, who are interested in developing their own teaching profession and work as special education professionals in multi-professional co-operation.

The vocational special needs teacher education is a program in which the personal skills, abilities and objectives of the student form the baseline for planning the studies.

The research and development of practical hands-on learning situations and processes serve to give new perspectives to understanding the practices of special education and training. During the program, the theory of special education is applied to real life cases in collaboration with the student’s work place.
