Schedule for the vocational teacher studies

  • You can study while working according to your personal development plan (PDP) and graduate flexibly within approximately 12‒18 months.
  • A PDP is drafted in order to acquire the expertise. It is used to identify and recognise prior knowledge and studies as well as teaching experience. PDP is used for designing the development path for the student. Drafting the PDP begins during the application phase, when the applicant selects the study programme.
  • The studies vary between contact teaching, online learning, independent assignments and group assignments. You will work in peer groups for the first 12 months and if your studies continue for over a year, you will work independently with your tutor.
  • The studies examine the fields of professional education and training and reflect on the actions of oneself and those of peers. The teaching and tutoring practice allows students to develop their hands-on skills.
  • Ensure that the scheduled days for contact teaching of the study group you have selected fit into your timetable, and that you are able to attend the face-to-face teaching on campus in Finland.
  • The International Vocational Teacher Education programme in English is meant for teachers and teacher applicants who plan to work at universities of applied sciences or at secondary level vocational institutions/colleges. Education also suits for participants who have come to Finland from abroad and/or who are interested in working as teachers in the English-speaking degree programmes in Finland, or focusing on export of education programmes and international activities in the area of education.
