Haaga-Helia’s Estonian school project was not granted authorisation

On the 14th of November, Haaga-Helia received a negative authorisation decision from the Estonian Ministry of Justice. As the most important reason for this decision, a reference was made to the tightened policies toward foreigners, especially those arriving from outside the EU. Both the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Education participated in the final decision making. The ministries had no objections to the concept itself or the academic contents.

- We have received this negative decision with great surprise. The administrative council of the foundation governing the school in Estonia has already convened and decided on the controlled shutdown of the Estonian functions. However, the work done so far has not been wasted, and that many elements, such as the planned concept, academic contents and the collaborative network behind the planned school, can be utilised in Haaga-Helia’s other functions, states Teemu Kokko, the President and CEO of Haaga-Helia.
