Haaga-Helia closed its campuses in March due to COVID-19 situation and continues to offer online education until the end of July. However, we are taking small steps towards opening our campuses as Finnish authorities are also easing the national coronavirus restrictions.
We aim at normalising our operations and in autumn, education will be conducted using a so-called blended model. This means that teaching will take place both on campus and remotely.
In Haaga-Helia, we are trying to treat the situation as moderately as possible. This means, for example, that we are welcoming international exchange students to Haaga-Helia in autumn semester 2020. However, as the Finnish Immigration Service is, in line with other Shengen countries, not processing residence permit or visa applications until further notice, we are unfortunately not able to welcome students for autumn semester 2020 who is not a citizen of an EU member state or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland (Shengen area), or has a valid residence permit issued by another EU member state than Finland.
Please note that self-quarantine for 14 days is recommended after arrival to Finland for travellers from abroad with the exception of travellers arriving from Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Therefore, the students coming for exchange to Haaga-Helia are expected to arrive 5 August at the latest for self-isolation before the orientation week. Follow the Reopen EU site for updates on the self-isolation policies.
The orientation takes place 19-21 August 2020. It is mandatory for every exchange student to participate in the orientation days because it will give students essential information on various practical matters such as studies, housing and living in Finland.
