The preliminary material and CV template will be published on 4 September 2023 on this Haaga-Helia's website (see the links below this text). Please use Haaga-Helia's own CV template. Attach your CV in pdf/jpg/png format to your application form. If you cannot submit your attachments online, please contact Haaga-Helia's Admission Services. The attachments must be submitted or returned by 21 September 2023 at 15:00 Finnish time at the latest. Any delayed CVs are not considered.
The entrance examination will be fully online and it will consist of two phases:
- Phase 1. An online multiple-choice test based on the pre-material
- Phase 2. A written online exam based on the material provided in the exam.
All assignments will be in English. The entrance examination will test applicants' English language skills. A separate test for English language skills will not be arranged. The examination is free of charge.

Phase 1. An online multiple-choice test based on the pre-material
The entrance exam will be held on 11 October 2023, at 18:00-19:00 Finnish time on Webropol platform.

Read the pre-material carefully before the multiple-choice test.
The invitations to phase 2 of the entrance examination will be sent via email by 18 October 2023. (Please also check your spam folder. In some cases, entrance examination invitations are automatically redirected to junk mail).
Phase 2. A written online exam based on the material provided in the exam (applicants will be supervised on Zoom during the exam).
The online written exam will be held on 25 October 2023, at 17:30-19:30 Finnish time on Webropol and on Zoom. Please be on time. Applicants arriving late can no longer participate in the entrance examination.
For the written online exam, you must have a computer with internet access and a camera. Please ensure that you have a computer that meets the requirements (for more detailed information please read section “Hardware and network requirements”), a web camera, microphone, speaker, and keyboard for writing. We recommend the use of a headset. Ensure the power supply to your computer, and make sure you have a quiet environment and appropriate lighting, to guarantee clear sound and good image quality. Please make sure that the programme and platform used in the entrance examination work on your computer.
Entrance exam points
The multiple-choice test of the entrance exam is checked first (min. 10 points/ max. 50 points).
- Part A: min 4 p, max 20 p
- Part B: min. 3 p, max. 15 p
- Part C: min. 3 p, max. 15 p
If based on the total points of the multiple-choice test section, several candidates have equal points, they will be eliminated based on three different parts (A, B, C) in the test and the points obtained from them. In the case of equal points, part A is decisive. If there are still equal points, Part B will be decisive. If there are still equal points, Part C will be decisive.
Based on the results of the multiple-choice test, twice the number of eligible applicants in relation to the study places will be invited to the next phase of the entrance examination: Sustainable Aviation Business: max. 70 applicants
The written exam (min. 10 points/ max. 50 points) assesses the applicants’ analytical skills and capability to write a text that is coherent, correct, and appropriate for the given task. There are no prior reading requirements. To pass the written online exam you need to earn at least 10 points. Failing the written online exam automatically means failing the whole entrance exam.
The lowest accepted score in the entrance examination is 20/100. Applicants must participate and pass each part in order to qualify for the selection process. Missing or failing the one part means failing the whole entrance examination automatically.
Identification
The applicant must show a valid ID when attending the written online exam. A valid ID is a passport or a Finnish official ID card or a Finnish Driving License or an EU/EEA country Identity Card. Other types of IDs are not accepted. Without a valid ID the applicant cannot attend the exam. The following documents are accepted as proof of identity:
- passport
- Finnish identity card with a photo, issued by police
- Finnish driver’s license
- another EU/ETA country identity card with a photo
An expired passport or a Finnish ID card is acceptable, provided that it has expired max. one year ago. We must be able to identify you from the picture on your ID. Without a valid ID you cannot attend the entrance exam.
Hardware and network requirements
The entrance exam is a digital online exam, completed by the applicant’s own computer. The exam has been designed to be completed by computer so you should not complete the entrance exam by your phone or tablet. Errorless completion of the entrance exam by phone or tablet cannot be guaranteed.
Please ensure that, on the day of the exam, you have access to a computer that meets the requirements and a reliable internet connection. We recommend the use of a fixed broadband connection. The applicant is responsible for the functionality of the internet connection and the computer, including its power supply. The university of applied sciences cannot be held responsible for problem situations related to taking the entrance exam, due to applicant’s hardware or software, or the stability of the internet connection.
We recommend that you use a mouse to navigate in the exam system instead of the keyboard.
Both phases of the entrance exam will be completed on a platform called Webropol. Recommended operating systems are Windows 10, macOS 10.14, and Ubuntu Linux 18.04 LTS or later. We do not recommend using Chromebook with Google Chrome OS. Webropol supports the following up-to-date browsers

- Firefox
- Safari
Other modern browsers may also work. NB! Do not use Internet Explorer. Please make sure that you have JavaScript and cookies enabled. Note that JavaScript and cookies are enabled automatically in modern browsers. The applicants will be supervised during the written exam on Zoom. Before participating in the entrance exam, make sure of the following:
- Download the Zoom app on your computer. Link to download: https://zoom.us/download
- It is recommended that you test Zoom beforehand. You can also join a test meeting provided by Zoom to familiarise yourself with it. Join a test meeting: https://zoom.us/test
- Check your computer´s privacy settings and allow desktop apps to access your microphone. It is recommended you have headphones with a microphone.
- You sit alone in a quiet and private area with a simple, plain wall in the background. Adjust the lighting if needed. Make sure that light comes from in front of you so that your face is illuminated, NOT from behind you or from the side.
- If you use Wi-Fi, please make sure all other devices are offline during the entrance exam. Also, make sure you are as close as possible to the router and that there are no thick walls in between you and the router.
- Be punctual. Join the Zoom meeting on time. The applicants arriving late cannot participate in the entrance examination.
Individual Arrangements in the Entrance Examination
If you need individual arrangements for Haaga-Helia's entrance exam, please fill in and submit the relevant application to Haaga-Helia by 21 September 2023, 15:00 Finnish time.
Co-operation with other universities of applied sciences
Kindly note that Haaga-Helia's Master's degree programmes accept only entrance examination results gained in their own examination. Scores received in the entrance examinations of other degree programmes in Finland or abroad are not transferrable / accepted to this programme.
