Ice hockey was the reason that brought Hunor Marton to study in Finland and in Haaga-Helia. And ice hockey is also the reason why he would like to stay in Finland after graduation. But hockey is not the only reason why he likes his Sport management and coaching studies in Vierumäki campus.
— The studies are not all about theory, but also about doing and trying. I think here the teachers are professionals, and the atmosphere in the campus is great. When studying abroad you meet new people from different countries and can practice your language skills, Hunor Marton explaines.
Hunor Marton has played ice hockey since he was 5 years old. Before coming to Finland, he played professionally in the Erste Liga in Romania. After finishing his career as a professional player, his plan for the future was clear.
—When my professional career was over, I knew the next thing I want to do is to coach. Finland has a good reputation in education and Haaga-Helia is the best school for ice hockey coaching in Europe, Marton says.
If everything goes as planned, Hunor Marton will graduate in spring of 2020. What are Martons plans for the future?
— After graduation, I would like to stay here in Finland and get more experience on coaching. Then maybe one day I would maybe like to move back to Romania and develop the league and the sport there, Marton plans.
When asked about to whom he would recommend the Haaga-Helias Degree Programme in Sport Management and coaching, Hunor has a clear answer?
— If you love sports and want to be with different kinds of people in a truly international environment, Haaga-Helia is the place to be.
