Learners must already be familiar with GDS system functionality, basic commands, and have the ability to interpret booked itineraries.

About

Learn with an instructor’s supervision the fundamentals for pricing journeys, how to interpret constructed fares, and how to decode electronic ticket data so you can provide your customers with the best service possible.

With the abundance and complexity of today’s fare options, your clients expect you to provide a service that is accurate, faster and more affordable than the competition. This course teaches the language of fare construction and fare rules so you can provide your customers with the best advice and the lowest fare for their air itinerary and needs. You will develop new skills through practical exercises and with the support of reference materials to become the travel professional your customers trust.

Module format

This module offers classroom instruction and Haaga-Helia Moodle activities, where study materials and the content are based on IATA’s Passenger Fares and Ticketing - Basic module.

This module qualifies for 5 credits (135 hours of study) to be completed in 6 months from the enrollment. Student performance will be based on an examination.

This module is meant to prepare the students for the IATA’s Passenger Fares and Ticketing  Basic certificate (subject to confirmed registration in IATA’s Learning Management System). More information about the registration is available from the instructors.

Those students, who register in IATA Learning Management System (a registration fee is applied), will be enrolled in an exam session administered by IATA, and on a successful completion, will be entitled for IATA certificate. More information about the IATA certification is available from the instructors.

What you will learn

Upon completing this course you will have the skills to:

  • Identify the parts of a journey
  • Match cities and countries with IATA Traffic Conference areas and sub-areas
  • Identify the global indicator for the routing flown
  • Quote specified routing fares and select the best fares
  • Convert and round currencies
  • Price one way, round, and circle trips using normal fares
  • Interpret electronic ticket (e-ticket) data elements
  • Collect applicable taxes, fees, and charges
  • Calculate child and infant fares

Price of the training is EUR 1 700 / person (+ VAT 24 %)
Price includes teaching, course material (~EUR 400), exam and certificate.

Training is billed in one installment before the beginning of the training. Participation can be canceled without expenses 14 days prior to start. If canceled less than 14 days prior to the start of training, we charge 50 % of the cost of the training. If the training is not canceled, we charge the full price for the course. Training is carried out if there are at least ten participants.

Alexandre Kostov is a Senior Lecturer in Aviation Business and Tourism Degree Programmes on Porvoo Campus, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. Alexandre Kostov’s expertise includes airline sales and distribution, travel and tourism technology, and IATA training. Certificate awarded

An IATA Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 70% or higher on all exercises and exams. A special distinction is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 90% or higher
