HAAGA-HELIA organizes a GOING GLOBAL event, which raises awareness about international development and volunteerism. With “think global - act local” mentality, you can do a lot of good with next to no effort. The event also focuses on promoting social and global responsibility. On the background of this GOING GLOBAL event are the European Year of Volunteering, and the Yle annual Red Nose Day campaign.  

The programme for the day includes e.g. a non-profit organization bazaar, a panel discussion in English about the themes of the event and a Red Nose Day Games Corner. 

The organizations present at the bazaar will be (among others) Unicef, JEF Finland, Allianssi and the UN Association of Finland. They will talk about what their organizations do and discuss potential work placement opportunities as well. 

In the panel discussion they will go over the themes of the event from University of Applied Sciences, students and organizations perspective. 

During the event HAAGA-HELIA will participate in Yle’s Red Nose Day campaign by playing some “Funny for Money” games and collecting donations. All the collected money will be given to Yle Hyvä Säätiö’s Red Nose Day campaign collection. 

Event participants can also bring all their old and unused clothes, shoes and even sports equipment from the back of their closets to Pasila and donate them. 

The event is open for all HAAGA-HELIA staff, students and partners.
