Accommodation
Accommodation Application
The accommodation application process varies between HAAGA-HELIA campuses. Please contact the HAAGA-HELIA International Services or your home university's international office to confirm your home campus at HAAGA-HELIA before applying for accomodation.
Helsinki
Application
Exchange students have been selected to study at the Helsinki campuses (Haaga, Malmi, Pasila or Vallila campus) have to apply for accommodation with the HOAS online accommodation application. Before filling in the application form for accommodation, please read through the instructions on the HOAS website (choose Exchange-> How to Apply for Housing) carefully!
In the HOAS application there is a question about your home campus. Home campus division does not exist anymore in Helsinki. Please select your "home campus" according to your field of study:
- Helsinki Hospitality or Tourism: Haaga Campus
- Helsinki Business or IT: Malmi, Pasila or Vallila campus (It does not matter which one you choose. Business and IT students will be placed in various locations and the home campus does not affect the placement).
Students should apply by the given deadline after their home university has nominated them as an exchange student to HAAGA-HELIA, because accommodation is reserved on first come first serve basis. The accommodation application deadline for students applying for the spring term 2011 to the Helsinki campuses is 1 November 2010. HAAGA-HELIA does not guarantee housing for students who have applied after the application deadline! HOAS will send housing offers to students by email and by post in December 2010.
Important to note
Students who arrive to Helsinki in the beginning of the autumn term should note that the HOAS Kamppi studio apartments will not normally be available until in the beginning of September. Students living in the Kamppi studio apartments should be prepared to book a room from a hotel/hostel for August until they can move to their HOAS apartment. Other HOAS apartments are normally available already in August.
Students should note that the shared studio apartments in Kamppi are recommended only for couples or good friends, because there is only one small bedroom in the apartment which students have to share and therefore they offer little privacy for the students. Students who want their own bedroom should apply for a room in a shared apartment.
Keys
Students who will be living at HOAS should note that if they have informed ESN-HELGA that they will be using the pick-up service which is arranged 10- 11 January, their keys will be delivered to the HH pick-up service desk at the airport or to the tutor who is picking up the student, so students will receive the keys together with their Welcome Envelope when they arrive. Students who arrive before/after the pick-up days should pick up their keys directly for their local HOAS office (open mon-fri 9.00- 16.00) or ask their tutor to pick them up. Students who are not using the pick-up service and who cannot pick-up the keys during HOAS' opening hours have to book a room from a hostel/hotel until they can get their keys from HOAS (HAAGA-HELIA International Services does not provide keys for students who arrive after the HOAS opening hours).
For further information on the flat locations and other information on housing, please see the International Student Guide. If you have any questions regarding your housing in Helsinki please contact housing (at) haaga-helia.fi.
