Internationalisation opportunities for students

Student Exchange

The students of HAAGA-HELIA can complete part of the studies abroad. Exchange studies are recognised by HAAGA-HELIA and the student exchange period does not extend study time. HAAGA-HELIA participates in the European Erasmus programme and it also has several bilateral exchange agreements worldwide.

The application round for the student exchange period starting in the autumn or the spring semester takes place in the preceeding academic year of the intended exchange period, in February. In September students can apply for exchange for the next spring term, if there were spaces left open in the actual application round in February. For further information, please see student's extranet.

HAAGA-HELIA welcomes approximately 350 incoming exchange students every academic year. Exchange students can study in HAAGA-HELIA´s programmes for one or two semesters.

Summer Schools

The students of HAAGA-HELIA can participate in short intensive courses abroad (1-8 weeks). The summer school can be offered by HAAGA-HELIA´s partner university or any other institution. Students can apply for a grant from HH for their studies in a summer school. For further information, please see student's extranet.

International Work Placement

Work placement is an important part of studies at HAAGA-HELIA and students can also complete the placement abroad. If you are planning an international career, it is highly recommended to complete the placement abroad. HAAGA-HELIA gives information and guidance on how to arrange the work placement abroad. For further information, please see student's extranet.

International Studies

Participation in international courses and international projects related to studies gives students an excellent opportunity to acquire skills needed in an international environment. The international courses and projects are organised in cooperation with HH's foreign partner universities and companies operating internationally.

HAAGA-HELIA has active teacher exchange with its partner institutions and it welcomes several foreign guest lecturers every academic year. They contribute to the internationalisation of the study environment.

For further information on the international studies, please contact your own study programme or your academic advisor.

International Tutoring

The degree students of HAAGA-HELIA help exchange students in practical matters and organise leisure activities. ESN-HELGA (formerly know as Kanto Ry), the Association for International Students at HAAGA-HELIA, organises international tutoring activities. Students can earn 1,5 – 7,5 credits by participating in their tutoring activities. The number of credits depends on the student´s contribution. International tutoring is also a pleasant way to make new friends from different countries, learn languages and to develop cultural sensitivity.

Europass

Europass helps learners and workers to prove their skills and competences on the international labour market and for education and training purposes. Europass combines five documents which have been developed to facilitate the mobility of both learners and workers throughout Europe. These documents include the Europass CV, in which one can attach other Europass documents; the Diploma Supplement/Certificate Supplement, the Europass Language Passport and the Europass Mobility. For further information, please see http://www.oph.fi/europassi/

In HAAGA-HELIA, students write the Europass CV in language courses (after beginner's level). In addition to this, students document their language skills within the Europass Language Passport in English, and in some degree programmes in other languages as well. For more information on this, please contact the teacher of the language course. When HAAGA-HELIA student graduates, s/he will automatically receive the Diploma Supplement in English.
