Sustainable development at HAAGA-HELIA

Sustainable development is about global, regional and local change that aims to secure a good life for current and future generations. The focus is on evaluating decisions and operating practices also on the basis of their long-term economic, ecological, social and cultural impact.

HAAGA-HELIA is committed to promoting sustainable development in accordance with the Ministry of Education sustainable development strategy, which was launched in 2006. HAAGA-HELIA’s values serve as a foundation for this activity: “Regeneration through teamwork – promotion of responsible business.”

In 2009, a programme was launched to systematically integrate sustainable development into HAAGA-HELIA’s strategy, operating practices, teaching as well as research and development activities. Both students and staff participate in these efforts. A Green Office project, which involves the preparation of an environmental plan for all units, is presently underway.
