Master's degree programmes and tuition fees

Master's degree programmes selected for possible tuition fees

The Finnish Ministry of Education has selected specific English-language Master's degree programmes for which it will be possible for Finnish higher education institutions to collect tuition fees from non-EU/EEA nationals. Tuition fees may be collected on a trial basis, starting from autumn 2010, 2011 or 2012.

Tuition fees may be charged from non-EU/EEA nationals enrolled in these programmes. Those higher education institutions that choose to collect tuition fees in their English-language Master’s programmes will also provide scholarship options for non-EU/EEA students enrolled in tuition-fee carrying Master’s programmes.

Note that the inclusion of a particular Master’s in the list does not yet necessarily mean that the programme will carry a fee - the institutions providing these Master’s programmes decide independently whether they collect tuition fees in these programmes or not.

Therefore it is recommendable always to check the tuition fee policy for each Master’s programme separately, either from the institution's own web site or from CIMO’s International Study programmes database

http://www.studyinfinland.fi/studying/international_study_programmes.html.

Tuition fees will not be collected from students enrolled in degree programmes on Bachelor's or Doctoral level. Also, non-EU citizens permanently resident in Finland will not be subject to tuition fees.
