Qualification requirements in a nutshell
In most cases a relevant university or polytechnic degree and a minimum of three years of work experience in a field corresponding to the degree.
In the field of social services and health either a relevant master's degree and three year working experience or a relevant polytechnic degree and five year working experience corresponding to the degree.

Recognition of non-Finnish degree
Please notice that if you have not completed your university degree
- in the Nordic Countries or
- your degree is a degree in the educational field of Social Services and Health and you have not completed your degree in Finland or
- you belong to the applicants of General Subject Teachers and you have achieved your degree abroad,
you should have a recognition of your degree made by the Finnish National Board of Education (www.oph.fi/recognition).
The process of recognition can take from three to four months, but without the decision on recognition your application can not be considered. 

The application form (for teacher education) had to be submitted to your first choice institution by January 25th, 2013. Send all the other necessary appendices by February 1st, and mention that you are waiting for the recognition from the National Board. We are able to wait for the recognition until the end of March, 2013.  

Selection process schedule
Non-eligible applicants are informed of rejection on March 25th, 2013.
Others are notified of the results on April 15th, 2013.

Confirmation of enrolment (student place)
Approved candidates receive a student place confirmation form along with the letter of acceptance, sent by their teacher education institution. The confirmation form must be returned to the same institution by April 26th, 2013 or the candidate loses his/her enrolment (student place).
