Excellence in Aviation Business – Training Programme for teachers of Chongqing University of Science and Technology

Porvoo Campus has had a pleasure of having 5 lecturers from China taking part in everyday life on Porvoo Campus for 3 months. The lecturers have mainly participated in the second and fourth semester studies of Bachelor Programme in Aviation Business and visited Master Programme in Aviation and Tourism Business on Pasila Campus.

The aim of the training programme is to help these teachers to achieve the basic skills in teaching methods and methodologies in order to upgrade their foundations to train and create future professionals in CQUST, support their professional development in Aviation Business and give tools to plan and carry out competence-based curriculum building and assessment process. CQUST will launch a new Bachelor Programme in Aviation Business in autumn 2019 and the programme will be co-taught by their own and Haaga-Helia staff.

In Porvoo the guest teachers have familiarized themselves with Campus 2.0 – starting from the Learning Camps and ending with the thesis process. In between they have got to know the competence-based curriculum and learning and teaching methods on Porvoo Campus. In addition, they have learnt about different forms of industry co-operation such as commissioned projects, work placements and company visits and discussed with the representatives of StartUp School and EduExcellence. Moreover, they have participated in nature wellness experience in Porvoo archipelago and visited the Fortress of Suomenlinna and Nuuksio National Park to enjoy beautiful Finnish nature and tranquility.

– For students and staff on Porvoo Campus these 3 months have been an excellent opportunity for internationalization at home. We have had a pleasure to learn about the Chinese culture and education, consumer behavior and aviation business in China and of course hear valuable insights from the Chinese point of view in the modules like Asian Areal studied, says lecturer Niina Moilanen from Haaga-Helia.
