    Professional Summer School 2017

    Professional Summer School 2017 offer students Digital Wellbeing Sprint 2017 and other professional studies in Summer 2017.

    1. Digital Wellbeing Sprint 2017

    Open innovation is the stairway to excellence. You will have an opportunity to innovate together with students, companies, the public sector and the third sector.  Join the Digital Wellbeing Sprint 2017 on August 11.-18. Enrolment time is 1st February until 15th May 2017.

    During this Sprint you will

    • develop your competences in open innovation, user-centered design, rapid-prototyping, integrated learning, and business & models related to value co-creation;
    • work in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural professional teams,
    • experience co-creating digital solutions for health and well-being by working on a live, real-life challenges from a private or public sector organization, 
    • connect & network with experienced professionals, companies, public players, and other students,
    • study and gain 5 ECTS and
    • compete at the upper edge and win a prize for the best team, two to three people from the winning team can participate free of charge in the Laurea BELT Bootcamp or to the East Sweden Hackathon where they will get support and a chance to further develop their business idea.

    • Finnish and international Bachelor's and Master degree students, exchange students and Alumni  in the fields of health care, social services, business, technology, media, and design

    What is expected from you

    • Commitment to participate actively throughout the six day Sprint (August 11.-18.8) organized mainly in Espoo
    • Be prepared for full commitment during the working days (8 am -4 pm)
    • Adequate English proficiency
    • Open-mindedness
    • Willingness to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary environment
    • Having fun! 

    Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

     Service Design Methods with Group Work 

    By the end of the Digital Wellbeing Sprint you will be able to:

    • understand the role of the service innovation process,
    • have the knowledge and the skills to design customer oriented service innovations within an entrepreneurial environment,
    • know and understand the main drivers and trends in wellbeing and health business,
    • act in multicultural and multi-professional teams,
    • understand and activate an entrepreneurial mindset,
    • assess the market potential of a service concept and
    • apply the acquired knowledge at work.

    Service innovation process and methods, trends in health technology and international wellbeing and health business cases, customer understanding, methods of strategic foresight, prototyping, business concepts, market potential, customer sales and marketing, pitching.

    Six days of intensive co-creation Sprint2017 with supporting lectures, clinics and pre-assignments.

    Sprint programme for Haaga-Helia, Laurea and Metropolia degree and exchange students free of charge. Others 240 € attendance fee.

    Price: 154  - 210 euro/week, extra night 22-30 euro depending on the room.

    Rooms basically furnished, basic dishes, bed linen and towels incl., WIFI.

    Free-time activities

    An exciting cultural programme will be offered during the summer school including group activities during free-time and an optional touristic programme. The events on evenings and weekend will be organised for a separate fee if there are enough participants. Registration information will be sent separately to students who have registered for Sprint.
