Student story: A path to the dream job

Rebecca Ramsurrun, Legal Assistant, Hannes Snellman Attorneys Ltd

After high school, I took some time off to work to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. After stumbling upon the Degree Programme for Multilingual Management Assistants at Haaga-Helia, I knew straight away that the programme was meant for me.

What interested me the most about the programme was the ability to study both business and multiple languages. During my studies, I also realized that the work of an assistant would suit me and my personality the best as I am the type of person to thrive in support functions, making sure all "back office" tasks get done seamlessly so the core objectives of the business are met.

During my studies, I completed my internship at the Bank of Finland, after which I was offered a temporary position as one of the Department Assistants in the Financial Stability and Statistics Department. I finished my studies while working full-time.

I currently work at my dream job as a Legal Assistant at Hannes Snellman, a law firm in the center of Helsinki. My tasks consist of assisting lawyers in multiple ways. The tasks include document management, meeting arrangements, invoices and billing amongst other ad hoc tasks.

I can honestly say that, the skills and lessons I learned at Haaga-Helia, can be applied and put into use in my everyday work.
