International Business studies offer a great base for careers in global business. The BBA graduates have broad-based knowledge, skills and competences they can apply in various business situations.  The core of the BBA studies consists of developing the business, being able to analyze business data and provide solutions, innovating and implementing digital solutions, building relationships and facilitating knowledge for strategic decisions. Depending on the students’ majority choices 2–5 of the following specialisation tracks are offered:

  • Customer Relationship Management and Communication
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Financial Management
  • Human Resource Management
  • Supply Chain Management.

The student can also choose supportive courses from other specialisations. Several language and communication study options are offered as well. Career plans with service and sales orientation are strongly supported. The students’ multicultural team, negotiation and networking skills are developed with the variety of learning approaches, for example, problem and project based learning.  Cooperation with international companies is an integral part of the studies. All students are encouraged to include an exchange semester or work placement abroad in their degree; this is compulsory for Finnish students. Continuous feedback from alumni and companies is taken into account in the annual planning of the curriculum implementation.

»Haaga-Helia was exceptional in offering students to work in multicultural groups for real companies. These courses did not only teach me the theoretical part of the course, but they also gave me a concrete experience on how things work in real companies. I gained valuable experience while being in Haaga-Helia. I specialized in Financial Management for Global business. Currently I am working for Koodiviidakko Oy as part of our highly competent sales team. My job consists of consultative corporate sales where I deal with marketing directors and corporate executives daily. Transition from Haaga-Helia to work life was effortless due to the help of Haaga-Helia's teachers. Overall, I enjoyed my time at Haaga-Helia and it provided an excellent “starters kit” for starting my own career in business.»

»Haaga-Helia has provided me with the relevant skills for starting my career. Being able to see the big picture, quickly diving into new topics, finding solutions to solve business problems, consolidating and summarizing information – these are just a few examples of what is appreciated in the workplace nowadays.  In my current position as a Business Intelligence and Customer Insight Specialist, I deal with providing our business with industry knowledge, forecasts and customer feedback.  The skills that I acquired at Haaga-Helia while working on projects for case companies and from writing my Final Thesis, have prepared me to put knowledge into action and provide benefits for my organization.

Another important aspect of the studies was learning to communicate with different stakeholders (other students, companies, professors & guest speakers) in different settings. The ability to have a professional approach to networking and teamwork not only helps at work, but in life overall – Haaga-Helia provides a lot of opportunities to train in this field and I am very grateful for that!»
