Open University of Applied Sciences

What is HAAGA-HELIA Open University of Applied Sciences?

Studies at the HAAGA-HELIA Open University of Applied Sciences are for you, if

  • you intend to apply to a HAAGA-HELIA degree programme,
  • you wish to deepen or update your expertise,
  • you wish to gain expertise in new areas, or
  • you want to study in a modern and inspiring learning environment.

Open University of Applied Sciences studies are intended for all adults. To study at HAAGA-HELIA Open University of Applied Sciences (later Open UAS) you must prove your English language skills when aiming to take part in courses taught in English. Please note that residence permit is not granted solely based on studies at the Open University. Studies are considered as part-time studies and do not entitle to financial aid or other social benefits for students.

Open University courses meet HAAGA-HELIA’s degree regulations. All students must fulfil the prerequisites set for participation for singular courses. You can choose courses from the Open University’s special offering or take courses that belong to the curriculum of one of its degree programmes in case there are free seats. Open University students can only enrol to the courses arranged by HAAGA-HELIA. Transcript of records is issued for completed courses at the Student Affairs Office.

If the student is later admitted to a degree programme at HAAGA-HELIA UAS, courses completed in Open UAS can be accredited as part of the degree. Students can also transfer HAAGA-HELIA Open UAS credits to some other universities of applied sciences, at least as part of free-choice studies. Students must, however, first discuss the eligibility of such credit transfer with the academic advisor of their own university.
