Profile of the Degree Programme

The programme provides students with a comprehensive understanding of Travel Demand Management that encompasses the desire to optimize the travel and transportation system performance of companies. It attempts to modify existing travel demand patterns through a variety of strategies based on sustainable tourism.

The programme is designed especially for experts in travel intermediaries and retailing, tour operating, transportation, travel management and tourism and service organisations, who are interested in developing individual companies and work communities on different levels of organisations.

Key Learning Outcomes

The Degree Programme in Tourism is based on on the perceived future needs of this wide industry. The focus is on the current rapid globalisation, continuous change and sustainability. The programme provides the  tools to cope with the challenges of the industry and to develop individual companies and work communities in different levels of organisations.  The emphasis is on anticipation, sustainability and responsibility in the tourism business and on learning to cope in changing situations.

Professional Growth

The goal is to raise the know-how of an expert to a developer level. The programme prepares students to take on diverse professional tasks, for example involving organisational development, project coordination and management. In addition, the programme instils in students the drive for life-long learning, and professional skills that function as a solid foundation for professional growth in an ever-changing business environment.

Semester Themes

The themes of the study modules are Responsible leadership, Tools to develop working life, and Travel demand management.

The programme is executed through an adult implementation with three-day contacts (Thursday - Saturday) about once a month. The length of the studies is 1½ years for a full-time and 3 years for a part-time student.
