Selection criteria

The Programme does use the general admission criteria, but please note following: at the first stage of the Entrance Examination applicants’ are assessed based on the experience in the field of sports and leisure. Based on their athletic career, coaching experience and other work experience within sports and leisure industry, part of the applicants are invited to the second stage of the Entrance Examination comprising the assessment of their athletic abilities and aptitude to the Programme. All applicants, despite their nationality, are selected to the Programme based solely on the result of the Entrance Examination. There is no quota for Finnish or foreign applicants.

Entrance examination

The second stage of the Entrance Examination is held on 23–27 April 2012. Applicants living in Finland will have the examination at HAAGA-HELIAs Vierumäki campus located in Heinola, Finland. Applicants permanently living abroad will have a video presentation and phone interview. In this part of the Entrance Examination applicant`s sport skills and aptitude to the studies will be tested.

If the applicant gets a grade of 30 points or lower, she/he cannot be accepted into the programme.

The results of the entrance examination for HAAGA-HELIA’s DP in Sport and Leisure Management do not transfer to any other degree of HAAGA-HELIA. Scores received in other Universities of Applied Sciences are not transferable/ accepted to this programme either!

HAAGA-HELIA does use discretionary admissions.
