Profile of the Degree Programme in Business Information Technology (BITE)
Learning Outcomes of a Bite Graduate
Bite programme provides student with the theoretical and practical knowledge required to operate in the ICT-field. Programme works in close co-operation with the business life and some of the courses are made by the visiting lecturers. Studies offer general skills needed in expert duties, such as co-operation and communication skills, initiative and ability to work independently. Graduates of Bite programme are currently working in several fields in Finland and abroad.
Key learning outcomes of the Degree Programme
A BBA from Business Information Technology Programme
- is capable to work either in ICT user organizations or in ICT services companies as an expert in her/his field
- manages overall development process of ICT systems and is able to work effectively in his field, in which more accurate on-line information is gathered from various places and equipments
- can participate in business process development and can support decision makers to make justified decisions regarding packaged application selection, implementation and usage
- knows different programming languages and development environments (.NET, Java, Linux, Qt, Windows Phone, etc.)
- is able to become a private entrepreneur
- can operate both in Finnish and English.
In addition to the wide knowledge of programs and business applications, student can choose between two different study paths for specialisation.
Professional growth
Professional growth of a Bite student is encouraged by down-to-earth assignments, close co-operation with the business life and work placement. The base of an IT-professional is built during the first semesters with compulsory courses. During the latter part of the degree, students will deepen their knowledge of their chosen specialisation as well as study courses of their choise.
Annual themes
Personal Development of a Bite student can be divided into 6 categories according to the level of IT knowledge. Studies start with a general introduction to programs and business applications. Programming is also introduced to the students. As the know-how of students gets deeper, more applications and programs are being introduced. 5th semester is dedicated to Work Placement made either in Finland or abroad. After a peek to working life, students are encouraged to choose their free-choise courses and do their specialisation studies.
