Entrance examination

All eligible applicants will be invited to the entrance examination.  Please reserve both days for the examination.

The entrance examination consists of two parts:
- Written examination (multiple-choice questions and a mathematical aptitude section).
- Aptitude test (incl. group interview and exercise). The test evaluates an applicants motivation, competence and understanding of hotel, restaurant and tourism field. In addition, a persons ability to develop into a supervisory and advisory position will be a key element in assessing their ability to complete the bachelor level studies in higher education.)

In addition points are given for industry-related work experience.

The lowest acceptable limit is 30 points (total of written examination and aptitude test).  If an applicant fails one or both parts of the examination, or does not have the needed English language requirements he/she cannot be accepted into the programme.

Further information and a detailed programme will be included in the invitation to the entrance examination. Please note that it is not possible to take the exam abroad.

The results of the entrance examination for HAAGA-HELIA’s DP in Experience and Wellness Management and DP in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management in Haaga Campus are transferable only within both degrees, and not to any of the other HAAGA-HELIA’s degrees. These scores received in other Universities of Applied Sciences in Finland or abroad are not transferable/ accepted to these programmes!

Work experience

Maximum number of points is 10 points. Two months of full-time (i.e. seven hours a day, and 20 days per month) work experience gives one point. Part-time work can be changed into full-time work as follows: 150 hours equals one month´s work experience. Work experience must be related to hotel, restaurant and tourism industry and earned after 16 years of age. The amount of work experience earned by the end of application time is considered.
Bring the copies of the work certificates to the interview. These letters of reference or certificates must include the following information: the employer with contact information, occupational title of the employee, duties, duration of the employment, reference to part-time or full-time job.  If the document is not in Finnish, Swedish or English, please include a translation into any of these languages.

It can be purchased from Matsku-store at Haaga Campus, Pajuniityntie 11, Helsinki or bought on-line (pdf-version, electronic) in the HH eShop
Alternatively, it can be ordered printed via mail (matsku (at) haaga-helia.fi) (prepaid for orders abroad, and post COD - Cash on Delivery - to Finland).  The price of the reading package purchased from Matsku is 25 euro. Mailing costs to Finland or abroad will be added to the cost (25 euro) of reading guide ordered for postal delivery.
