quality management

HAAGA-HELIA’s quality management is based on the European EFQM and the American Baldrige models. Our university passed with excellent marks the 2010 national quality audit by the Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council and became in 2011 a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), with the aim of earning accreditation by the association in the coming years.

HAAGA-HELIA’s has produced a set of working instructions and process descriptions, supplemented by form templates, to provide steering for everyday operations. HAAGA-HELIA’s quality organisation is responsible for the upkeep of the process description system, with designated persons responsible for individual descriptions. The process descriptions define the quality criteria for the processes, as well as how quality is measured. HAAGA-HELIA units are responsible for the production and upkeeping of working instructions and form templates.

A significant share of development actions have their origin in informal feedback, both oral and written. This should not be taken as an indication of shortcomings in the quality assurance system, but rather as an indirect form of communication that is very common to HAAGA-HELIA. This means that although some feedback is not systematically documented, it remains valuable input for quality management and improvement.

Assessments, feedback systems, audits and accreditations monitor our quality level, and the information provided ensures that our developmental actions are properly targeted. HAAGA-HELIA makes use of the Deming quality circle (PDCA), which ensures continuous quality monitoring and accompanying quality improvement.
