Course enrollment

Enrolment period for courses in the autumn semester 2012 starts 28 May 2012, at 8 a.m. (GMT +2).
Exchange students have to enroll for courses before their arrival to Finland.
Course registration is done online with the WinhaWille online course registration system.

You will receive your user name, password and enrolment instructions by email one week before the enrolment begins.
Enroll for the courses as soon as possible after the beginning of the enrolment period!

Step by step instructions:

1. WinhaWille system has all the important functions on the left hand’s side of the main page. See Picture 1.

2. Go to Enroll -> Implementation

3. Search for the courses you want to enroll for:

  • Select the campus in which the course takes place from the first drop down box Department.
  • You can search for courses by study code (for example ROE1RB002A, please type only the first part of the code, not the part after the hyphen!) or by course name (for example Successful Selling). Use only one search criteria at once.

4. Click Search. A list of courses will appear.

5. If there are several groups of the same course, choose the right group from the list  (in a course code, the last part after the hyphen shows the group number).

6. Check if there are still places available for the course. You can see the number of enrolled students by summing up the number of Enrolled and Accepted and comparing the result with the Maximum amount of students for that course, see Picture 2 (below the Picture 1, page 2). You can also choose courses that are full, but your participation can be confirmed only if somebody cancels his enrolment.

7. Select the course in which you want to enroll by checking it off (there is a checkbox in front of each course).

8. Press Confirm to confirm your enrolment.

9. Please note that the registration for courses is officially confirmed by attending the first lesson of the course. A student who is absent from the first lesson will loose his place in the course. Attending the first lesson is mandatory. If you arrive to HAAGA-HELIA after the courses have started, you should e-mail the teachers of your courses and inform them that you would like to take part in the course even though you are not able to attend the first lecture. The staff members’ email addresses at HAAGA-HELIA are always firstname.lastname(at)haaga-helia.fi and the teacher’s name is mentioned in the course description in the course timetable.

Managing your courses:

1. Go to Student -> ISP. See Picture 3 (below the picture 2, page 3).

2. Definitions:

  • Enrolments – courses you have enrolled for, but participation has not been confirmed.
  • Participations – courses you have enrolled for and participation has been confirmed.
  • Completions – courses that have been completed.
  • Planned studies – courses you have enrolled for, but have not been accepted for because the course has been cancelled or it is full.

3. If your participation has not been confirmed by the teacher, you can delete the course yourself:

  • Select Enrolments on the Student -> ISP.
  • Press Search. A list of the courses which you have enrolled for will appear.
  • Delete the course by checking it and pressing Delete.

4. If your participation has been already confirmed by the teacher you will not be able to delete the course yourself. Please contact the teacher of the course by e-mail to cancel your participation.

5. You can check all your completed courses:

  • Select Completions. A list of the completed courses and grades will appear.

6. Logging out: you can log out from WinhaWille by selecting Close on the menu on the left.

Learning Agreement

The learning agreement is a contract between the student and his or her home university and also HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences. It ensures that your studies at HAAGA-HELIA will be recognised at your home university. It is the student's responsibility to make sure that this document is completed and signed by both the sending and the receiving institution.
Fill in the learning agreement after the course registration in the WinhaWille system. If you enrolled for courses that were full, please do not list those courses on your learning agreement.
If possible, get the stamp and signature from your home university on your learning agreement before coming to Finland. Bring the learning agreement to orientation and you will get a signature and stamp of the receiving institution. If it is not possible to get a signature from your home university before arrival, please send the learning agreement back to your home university for a signature when you are in Finland.
